29 Dec DIY Mini Sock Monkey
one grey stretchy glove
one cream stretchy glove
red wool and wool needle
white and black thread
2 black seed beads for eyes
From the grey glove cut off ends of two fingers for the monkey arms and two fingers (slightly longer) for the legs.
From the cream glove cut off the tip of one finger for the top of the monkey’s head and the tip of the baby finger for the monkey’s nose (leave enough extra to fold under when sewing onto the monkey.
Cut thumb off grey glove at least 1 inch below the end of the thumb and sew up the side edge.
Stuff grey thumb with polyester stuffing and sew end closed.
Stitch cream cap onto top of stuffed grey thumb.
Stuff other cream finger tip, fold under edges and stitch onto monkey’s face for the nose.
Roll grey fingers into tight cylinders and stitch closed for arms and legs.
Sew arms onto sides and legs onto bottom edge of monkey body.
Make a gather stitch in a circle formation at the side of the head to form the ear (about 1/2 inch diameter). Gather tightly and stitch in place so the ear sticks out. Repeat on other side.
Embroider the mouth with red wool using a back stitch.
Sew on black seed beads for eyes.
Thread two pieces of grey wool (about 12 inches each) through a spot at centre back of the monkey.
Braid the wool pieces to form the tail. Put two pieces together so you can do a regular 3 piece braid.
Tie the end of the braid in a slip knot. Clip off extra wool.
