14 Jan Stories of Starting Podcast Episode 17: Rob Cloney, Educator, Storyteller
Welcome to Stories of Starting Season 2 Podcast Episode 17. Today’s guest is my friend Rob Cloney. We have been friends since our daughters were in grade 1. Rob is an educator at St. Thomas Secondary School in Montreal. He is a master storyteller for adults and children.

Rob and his wife Nedia El Khouri run the Viva Vida Art Gallery in the Pointe Claire Village on the West Island of Montreal. Rob also teaches workshops in Clay Animation and other media in their summer Art camp series and birthday parties. The gallery also hosts an annual exhibition called Articulation which features Art pieces featuring words and language with an evening of spoken word.
Rob is very active in the storytelling community and has performed with the Montreal Storytellers Guild, Ottawa Storytellers and the Storytellers of Canada.
I have done several artistic collaborations with Rob including costumes for his productions in the theatre department at his school. We recently collaborated on a square for a communal quilt for the Storytellers Guild of Canada’s Storysave Project.
One year Rob’s daughter Amanda was in his English Class in high school. I was inspired to make a set of comic style “collector cards” as a gift for them that Christmas:
